Why the DYNAMIC ISLAND is WORSE than the NOTCH

The iPhone 14 Pro's flagship feature is the dynamic island, but here is why it's worse than the notch.

It’s like Apple is trying to discourage people from playing games and watching video on their phones. The dynamic island has ruined the experience for a lot of apps.

How is the island when you're watching a video in landscape mode, and there is a notification from whatsapp? Is the text or the notif will appear from the island too? Or we can scroll down from the top (which is side of the phone)

It’s literally cutting LESS of the video than the larger notch is 😂. But genuinely to each their own. I love how it’s animated and functions with now playing. Before you had a black bar. Now you have a bar with info on Bluetooth battery devices. Now playing. Phone toggles etc

Dynamic Island: an ugly black pill all time in the screen and a "solution" that serves for take precious screen space with non-relevant information all time, showing that in an ugly set of black widgets. If Apple had a really innovative solution, they would have shown, maybe, a set of sensors under the screen.

The island makes the screen feel uninterrupted since it’s completely an island not connected to the borders and the brain likes to fill in holes.

i thought i was the only one who noticed. among everyone getting so hype over it. i feel that yes, apple can change up their notch design, but there should be a setting to turn off dynamic island so it shows the pill and hole cutout only, making them less prominent. now it’s just a huge black hole when watching content

I was with a friend who has the 14, and we were playing a game this thing was obstructing the view of. This was never an issue on older models. I thought you could turn it off or something, but now I feel dumb for getting this phone even after experiencing it being an issue 😂

What Apple should've done was maybe make the notch more thinner, I don't know how, but I hope it can and would be possible, and could've added the dynamic island features on the notch. Would've been so much better.

Omg, The Island is meant to be there. Just imagine if it wasn’t due to the sensors being housed, It being a hub that you can interact with, Housing directions, animations etc… makes it actually a great innovation & a new way to interact with iPhone. Yes, It houses these sensors & has become a feature as well. If you think about it, The screen is completely full screen & just like you accept a camera intruding, The Island has to be accepted as it houses much more than just a camera but sensors too & also is a huge part of the iPhone experience with animations, a way to interact with notifications, display directions or other info like timers etc… is it worth taking up space for the camera, Face ID as well as its dynamic capabilities? I think definitely so, it’s a part of the iPhone experience & that island is part of the look of the iPhone.
