JULVISA (Giv mig ej glans) // Ingrid Gräsbeck

Показать описание
Yesterday was Jean Sibelius Day here in Finland which is also the day we celebrate Finnish music. In honor of that, here is the first and last verse of one of the most popular Finnish Christmas Carols (but in Swedish just to remind everyone that it is still one of Finland’s official languages, and I aim to keep it that way✊🏻), composed by none other than the great Sibelius himself.🎼

I was accompanied by my amazing mom, Maija Lehtonen, who asked not to be included in the shot. She was like, “I’d have to do my hair, and my makeup, and that’s just way too much effort for only an hour of not going anywhere🤷🏻♀️.”
Some 2020 mood right there. My mom has spoken.

Among many things, this piece reminds me to look at life from a bigger perspective and remember that all of the ones we’ve had to say goodbye to are watching over us and keeping us safe. They are not lost or gone. I believe they’re sometimes more present in the here and now than we are. What’s comforting in that thought is that when we struggle to live in the moment, our late loved ones help us get there—they guide us. That’s just my personal opinion, very spiritual🔮
What are some of your thoughts around that or the piece in general?💬
