That’s incredible, I always loved that shot of him walking with the camera facing him with the music and him slapping his hands together, now knowing this is how they shot it I wonder if that was meant to be some sort of subconscious thing, like my brain was picking up on the fact that his space wasn’t actually a real environment but I consciously could never tell, almost like when ur dreaming, thats really interesting

I can't believe I never noticed this the first two times watching the movie. Now that I see, I can't unsee it, but it reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock and all of those old movies where they're driving and it's obvious they're not actually driving, but that they're projecting a movie behind them.

But I agree with the others here, it gives off a cool, surreal aesthetic that's super cinematic and retro looking.

0:10 - left, a face appears behind the grille, reflected from across the street (right). Also note the pink lens flare 'diamond' (bottom, centre-left).

But there’s the other scene where he’s being followed in the streets at night where he’s actually there. So why did they need to film here on a treadmill?

The next shot in film is a side view of tom walking on an actually street, why the need for a back projection of the street ?
