California Coast - via Pacific Coast Hwy & 101

A tour of the California Coast by Highway 101 and the Pacific Coast Highway. We start on Highway 101 at the Oregon Border and continue to Crescent City where it becomes the Redwood Highway.

We then follow it through the Wine Country of Sonoma County and into San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge. Highway 101 becomes the Bayshore Freeway as we travel across the Silicon Valley to San Jose.

We the move to the Pacific Coast Highway just south of Monterey and follow across the Bixby Creek Bridge through twisting, cliff hanging curves with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. At San Luis Obispo Route 1 and Highway 101 join again as we travel down the best Surfing areas of the country along the PCH.

At Oxnard we follow Route 1 across the beaches of LA, Santa Monica & Venice Beach. South of LA, we travel through Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and ending at Capistrano Beach. We then go back to LA and follow highway 101 ending at I-5 & I-10.

I did this road trip in 2019 when life was still normal. Hotels in Monterrey are crazy expensive. This road trip is a must if you have the ability to, it’s truly beautiful.

I drove up the coast about 5 yrs ago...most beautiful place I have ever been...I drove from venice beach to santa barbara and had lunch on the pier, it was the most amazing trip of my life so far.

I live in Cali for many years now. Right off PCH, north of Santa Barbara. I have gone up and down the coast many times, and everytime I feel so alive and so lucky. It is by far the most beautiful coast line I have ever seen, and I have been all over the world. You can never be bored of California.
