I love playing with Marx generators, I've got a mid-size one I've been playing with recently that makes 8" arcs and is set up to trigger manually for the highest possible voltage, all the air gaps are set just beyond their breakdown voltage and I made a small remotely controlled arm with a peice of copper wire on the end that partially bridges the first stage spark gap. You should try it out, it makes extremely consistent arcs without any of that random sputtering and failures to arc, and they are fantastically loud.

These must produce a lot of radio frequency noise!! Did it interfere with your WiFi or cell phone reception? What about AM / FM radio?

Is the voltage on the anode the same as the input voltage?? I know on the big single discharge spark gap the voltage will be multiplied. But I’m not wanting to run any resistors where I don’t need to. On my larger spark gap I know I’ll have to run a resistor so I don’t hurt my transformer. Please lmk bro
