Tuff-Tac ® High Performance - For Metal, Plastics, & Ceramics - Black or Clear
Regular price$66.00 this is what I have used and was told that buyers use this in the marine industry.

I'll show you how I create a birdhouse that I will sell at one of the festivals that I work during the Spring, Summer, and Fall months. This is the beginning of a series of videos on building birdhouses. Please subscribe to see the up coming works in process.

Referring to the hole for the bird entrance she says..."I'm not really sure where it goes in the end and I really like to see it as a whole". Not only is she skilled as a bird house maker but she's really good at puns too 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Four yeara ago I made 10 nest houses for sparrows and/ or chicka dees, etc -- small birds. I made mine out of cedar fence wood, which is about 5/8 thick and are glued and nailed together. One side swings up open to clean out. It has a small dowel to act as a perch below the opening. I got the plans from a bird house book. Each year I have beween 5 and 8 momma birds using them. I had a tray of molten bees wax for water proofing the top and sides. It is not necessary to coat the insides. It's a lot of fun sitting in a chair, watching the little birds at home doing bird stuff. And a short PS here -- I keep bees and do NOT poison flowers of any kind or kill insects that the birds need for food. Curses to all you Monsanto product users. Bob in Montana, where it is finally looking like spring....

Nice job! I've made few for the yard here. The copper roof reminded me of a trick I've used. I take the thin tall aluminum cans (like from ice tea), cut the ends off, cut the length, then unroll it flat. I cut it into strips 1/4" wider than my steel ruler. I use the ruler as a form to bend up a 1/8" lip along each side, forming a shallow tray. I staple these next to each other on the roof. A piece without the lips bent in the center makes a ridge cap. When painted, it makes a fair approximation of metal roofing.
I also tried leaving the can flat and unpainted as a sort of tribute to the old "Chew Mail Pouch Tobacco" barns. It faded too much though.

Makes a stronger build, the way you do it. Thinking ahead and designing accordingly. You are a good builder of bird houses.

Nice video. Depending where the box is to be placed it is usually best to leave off the Perspex. The whole idea for nesting in a tree or box is that it is safe and birds especially when egg laying can be scared and permanently leave the eggs. Anything from other birds or blown up items in the air can spook them if they can see outside. Best left in the dark and cosy.

That was really entertaining to watch. I am an engineer who is used to exact sizes and precise dimensions and admittedly I was sceptical at the beginning but was pleasantly surprised at the end result. Cheers Hendrik.

As a builder may I offer a few tips. You may benefit from doing pre - assembly on many of these parts - ie use a assembly line approach - make 20 of each board/batten or the walks - then you are just doing a final assembly. This of course is only a suggestion and if you enjoy making unique each time then I understand. You make great videos and I get little tips from your work. Cheers!

The joy of seeing a family of bluebirds move into one of the houses I built is satisfying. The western bluebird male's vibrant shade of blue is breathtaking....birds don't need a perch and in fact it makes it easier for predators to access the nestlings, though your bamboo is a great deterrent. The birds just hold onto to the hole to look around or peek out when inside which is very cute. You have some whimsical designs. I'm not sure that most birds will like having window, though. Cavity nesters usually prefer holes in trees that are dark and secure.

Similar to what is called battenboard and you did a wonderful job, looks really nice ! Couple tips ...work from the top down making your pieces as long as possible, less chance of leaks . Any overhang from the roof is a major plus . Any leak down the road needs to be avoided . 35 yrs. of framing custom homes has taught me that much . I'm not being critical, I hope you know that . Beautiful work ! Looking forward to your upcoming videos.

I have personally watched this several times the last couple of years. I can't get enough so I keep coming back . There's just something so relaxing about watching you create a work of art . It makes me wish I was there by your side building one along side of you .

A suggestion:before assembling, brush on a coat or two of Thompson’s Water Seal, on both sides. Helps protect bird house from deteriorating in wet climes. Polyacrylic water based varnish only eventually will peel off, leaving wood unprotected.

Watching you work is so relaxing.
When I watch woodworking channels I usually do it for straight info, I usually watch “bigstackD” or “post10” to relax but I have to add your channel into both categories now.
I love bird houses and I’m teaching my 11 year old daughter to build one. I have to show her this for the advanced stages.
Thank you for posting this.
She is building a basic rectangular, slant roof style one now. She wanted to put shingles on it so we are using popsicle sticks ends as shingles.

The minute I saw you scribe the roofline on the ends I subscribed. That's a time consuming detail, but it's also a sign of quality. Good job.
