When I need to cut, I always start with the Gold Pad on a test spot and then examine the test spot to determine if the Gold Pad cut sufficient to remove enough marring to satisfy the customer or I need to step up to the wool pad. I can always go more aggressive for more cut. I can not put clear back on the surface if I removed more than necessary. Well, I can not easily put clear back on.

Does the red jeweling pad need to be used with a rotary? Is there a downside (other that maybe a little more cut) to using a DA?

If I use the Wool Cutting pad with a DA, would I or should I then follow with the GS Waffle pad?

Safe to say.
Gold Pad 1 step - rotary
Red pad 1 step - rotary

Either works? Or should I 1 step Gold with a DA?

Doesn't paint type determine which you use? For example my Wifes Nissan has paint so soft you look at it sideways and it swirls, vs my VW has rock hard paint. I have to use totally different pads or products for each, and figuring that part out takes time and experimenting.

For Headlight restoration, for the end steps, I use the wool pad for the rubbing compound, and the red foam pad for the finishing polish.

Does that sound about right? Or should I also use a harder foam pad instead of wool for the rubbing compound? It’s to remove light scratches before polish and clearcoat.

I also have this white furry pad and microfiber pad, not sure what that’s for but they are soft.
