Yeah, strategy games should absolutely include peace-talk negotiations. You shouldn't need to conquer every bit of land your enemies hold. You just need to prove that fighting you will be more costly than peace, and that victory is impossible. Allowing you to negotiate an end to the fighting without further bloodshed.

Basically simulating morale. If you're consistently winning battles and gaining ground, it should give hope to your own people and despair to your enemies. While stalemates should encourage both sides to pursue peace talks, as they feel they're wasting lives and materiel and gaining nothing.

But the player should also face the exact same pressure. If you're losing rapidly or consistently, then morale should tank and you should face internal pressure to surrender, or risk being deposed. Or spend resources to try and bolster morale, such as on propaganda, or on authoritarian domination of your subjects. Or you might try launching flashy offensives, to try and get some kind of win and prove you've still got teeth (see: The Battle of the Bulge, and Ukraine's current Kursk offensive at the time of writing).

In real life, morale in battles and wars is very "swingy", and highly dependent on momentum. Consistent wins and consistent losses establish trends in people's minds. Stalemates feel pointless, and reversals are surprising and disruptive. Having the player engage with that psychological reality would make the politics of these games feel much more realistic and human.

You know this mod is insane when it takes someone 11 minutes just to set up the basics without unpausing

1:11 Wait, betray Stalin? But you are not even allied with him.

17:04 Bitt3rSteel's Rambler moment.

35:30 That's essentially a collaborative alliance/union that the Empire of Japan tried to establish, and it's roughly translated as "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere."

The general concept of the union is that China and Japan have endured asphixiating military and political intervention from the Western powers in the past few centures (see Century of Humiliation, Boshin War) so it's only natural for them to team up in order to protect themselves from "western imperialism."

In reality, this was no more than a means of propaganda to enforce Japanese despotism.

I love how at 9:40 a boat won’t be finished until 2147 just shows why I never will enjoy making a navy

Aqua from Konosuba (Italy)

The legion of the damned (Poland and Finland)

Purgatory incarnated (China and bonus points for any of the warlords)

fully agree with limited peace, there should be a few conditions like fleet size of usa is smaller then a certain amount and all pacific and asian nation that are in the war are capitulated, and that you must control hawai, but the usa and great brittain would a that point have accepted a peace, striking into the usa was possible for japan and with the loss of most asian and pacific holding it wouldn't be feaseble for the usa and great brittain,

plus with the peace not all asian nations would go to japan, india is way to populace to be puppeted atop of china and with the east asian nation under japanese control they would be a bit overextended as it is

My kinda protip to Play as Japan is to focus on only navy planes, and light carriers

8:50 Apparently the Type 95 Ha-Go (Early) is actually a light tank chassis, and the one you looked at in the new production window was Type 95 Heavy Mk.0. "Interesting" naming convention

12:30 I don't know how it works in BICE, but if you're interested, at least in vanilla, the meta is to go Army Dominant unless I'm mistaken. Naval bombers are more cost effective than building up a navy and Japan gets massive discounts for CV naval bombers. So you just spam massive amounts of CV naval bombers with a 40% discount (the buff from prioritize naval aircraft constructioun counts double for them for some reason). Enjoy your big boost to military factory construction and production!
