I am about to start a home automation business in my area and been scouting reddit for information about people that have successfully used HA for commercial projects but almost all comments say that HA is not stable/reliable enough to be used commercially... So this interview is actually tremendously helpful for me and gave me a big boost of confidence to go ahead with my plans.

Being an industrial automation engineer I'm just starting my home automation, and even so it was very helpful to find that specific information on this channel.

My first automation was the kitchen exhaust fan. It's damn simple and useful. Nobody notice it, and that's how it should be.
Now I'd go for lighting...

Thanks all for this great video! This is very valuable information for "us" as hobby home automation guys. We don't have the time and money to compare different devices but they have done it and experienced it on a way bigger scale! I really like to see more videos like this. I'm also interested in even more professional smart homes where they use KNX etc. They use probably wired contact and temperature sensors? The documentation part is also important for us hobbyists, if the maintainer is not there anymore the home can then easily be restored in normal non-smart home again. They also mentioned something about hiding the sensors, I wonder how they do that. For example a contact sensor: In a wooden door you can hide it inside the top of it by drilling a hole to fit a small contact sensor but this doesn't work with a PVC door right? I'm looking forward for more videos like this!

I've often wondered if there were people out there commercialising the install of HA. When I look at what some of my friends have paid for C4 and the results they've got, I wish these blokes all the best. It's great to see some young guys having a crack
