Here is my take on Pete Hegseth. He risked his life to keep ALL Americans safe. No Warfighter comes home unscathed. So he made some pretty bad decisions for awhile. But then he turned his life around, and grew into the man he is today. He fathers ALL of his children. He stands up for his fellow Warfighters. He has shown a degree of responsibility and integrity which is all too rare these days. Who of us has not made bad decisions? And how many of us have learned from those decisions and turned our life around? Some people do, but a lot of people do not. Those who do can take their experiences good and bad and use that for good. And that is what Hegseth brings to the table. Integrity, love of country, and the desire for ALL Americans to be safe. And the knowledge gained from combat and personal experience to make it happen.

As someone who has sung and studied Gregorian chant for ten years, since I was a young teenager, I would say chant doesn't and shouldn't take away the "personality" of the gospels as Michael claims. Chant is best sung with a combination of bringing the personalities of the singer(s) to the music and bringing out the emotional meaning of the words, especially when the text of the chant is a quote from an apostle or from Christ. There's plenty of "personality" there. Chant is boring if sung without expressivity.

I disagree with banning contraception. I'm pregnant with my fourth baby right now, despite trying to avoid my fertility window, while waiting to be put on birth control. Planning around a woman's cycle isn't fool proof, we can ovulate early or late, and if we are in a difficult financial spot (as we are) or she is prone to difficulties during pregnancy (as I am) then it can be stressful and scary to wind up pregnant when you didn't plan to be. Our oldest turns four next month. All of our children have been planned up to this point, but I didn't want to have another baby for at least two or three more years. We need a bigger vehicle for four children, which we can't afford, and we need more income, which in our small town, isn't really much of an option (the next opportunity will be in two years at the earliest, when my husband will be eligible for management at his factory). Not to mention lack of family support and judgement from them rather than joy and support.

There are a lot of reasons outside of promiscuity, for women to want contraception. My husband and I were virgins when we met, too, so there's no moral issues in our relationship or foundation either.

I really appreciated the last viewer question. My view is similar to Michael's but more what I see as more centered. Worship Services have a reason greater than having a get-together with friends and that reason is proclaimed in the name, Worship Service. It's a time to reflect upon and praise God, Psalms 22:3 informs us, "God inhabits the praised of his people". Worship songs and music should uplift the soul helping us draw nearer to the Eternal God, not be a distraction. Congregational singing shouldn't be complicated, complicated should be left to choirs, solos and small groups while the Congregation enjoys and reflects on the message.

My uncle died of lung cancer when I was younger and it was a gruesome affair.

In the 90s they did an amazing job promoting lung cancer awareness, doing away with cigarettes and cigars in ads and on tv; stopping the glamorization of these products and severely restricting the product companies’ ability to influence (young people) to buy them. And yet these podcasters seem like they can promote them however they want, no warnings attached whatsoever.

Michael, I’ve been listening to your show for years, and generally appreciate your take on things. I’m a millennial about your age, but you are going to get a whole generation of young conservatives killed by lung cancer because of your Mayflower influencing. Babylon bee has been endorsing a cigar company too. It’s disappointing.

I'm not a Catholic, so forgive me if this seems ignorant. When singing or chanting in a language that you don't understand, how can you be using anything other than emotion. Obviously Michael you have learned some Latin, but is that the experience of most Catholics? Does the church provide translations for those attending who are newer or less educated? I'm not meaning to be offensive. I'm curious. I believe that God created us with both a mind and emotions and that we are meant to engage both in worship. We are to love God with 100% of our minds and 100% of our emotions. I find that when I'm focused entirely on God and not on myself both are engaged. I would love to know what you think.
