Streets in Spain's north-eastern city of Zaragoza were flooded on Thursday, after a severe storm and torrential downpours.

People could be seen clinging to their cars and climbing nearby trees to escape the flood waters before emergency services were able to carry out rescue missions. Authorities have warned the city's residents against travel.

The desertification of Spain and southern Europe continues. As the soil gets drier due to the draughts and increased temperatures, it also looses the ability to absorb rain and flash floods appear when rain finally comes, all the water is flushed into the rivers/ocean and doesn't infiltrate into the ground.

Really? Warned against “unnecessary travel” because it is a torrential flood?
Maybe not try to drive Fiat Panda in 1 meter deep fast water.

And yet to the NE their reservoir is less than 25% full because of drought. Too bad they could not harvest this water and funnel it to the NE.
