Not all of the cities in the world are as horrendously negligent as the cities in Turkiye. In the U.S.A., all of the most earthquake-prone cities (e.g. San Francisco and Los Angeles) have very strict construction codes that require every single building to be constructed with the latest and best earthquake-resistant techniques. In contrast, many buildings in Turkiye's most earthquake-prone cities (e.g. Istanbul and Izmir) are cheaply made "death traps" that will crumble and collapse when the next quake hits. Erdogan should be ashamed of himself!

Every remaining building has to be torn down, those that haven't fallen are most likely held together by friction, when the weather warms and concrete begins to expand, many more will come down...

My Dad build a house near Saloniki where sometimes are earthquakes. He spent a lot of money to make it earthquake prove, basically, if u build in an area like that, you know about it and have to build accordiingly. If you want to save the money, you are endangering your family.
