Some suggestions on what you could do:

1) Use more quality everything in your megabase. It really saves up on space and getting to quality 3s isn't too bad. It would definitely cut down on the amount of power plants you need, which on Vulcanus can mean saving a lot of the expensive foundations. Same with spaceships and their cargo bays!

2) Fusion power is really cheap, easy to make and it's so much smaller!

3) I guess if you were building your mall again, parametrised blueprints are great for that. But I guess that's a bit of a late advice...

4) You can get calcite from space, which can be good enough for Nauvis needs.

34:43 Tip here in case nobody has already mentioned it but you should make a blueprint with parameters so you can set the values as you place down the BPs. Also, I know it was mentioned elsewhere but buffer chests have really grown on me for most storage chest purposes. It helps make sure your resources are where you want them to be and they aren’t scattered everywhere

My guy, you can make a ship to mine calcite from asteroids, thus eliminating the need to send calcite on rockets. Makes it functionally free.

Great work on this base! I had a lot of fun megabasing with a friend when space age first released. I think an optimal megabase in space age would actually be heavily reliant on interplanetary logistics, shipping infinite raw resources off of vulcanus at scale and circuits and oil off of fulgora.
My favorite novel solution for my playthrough was space mining! I built some absolutely massive cargo and mining ships that would take trips out to the edge and come back with hundreds of thousands of ore. We straight up stopped mining on nauvis entirely and ran entirely off of astroids. We struggled a ton with oil demand for our nauvis base and ended up doing an insane coal liquifaction build using the carbon from space even lmao. I only wish there was a way to get stone out of space mining as well, that would cover basically every single resource.

Another possible solution for the cargo haulers would be using quality turrets, since that adds +10%, +20%, +30%, +50% range. Just a small amount of extra range would fix it, so you don't need legendary.

32:18 I don't know where, when, or from who I learned about buffer chests from, but don't sleep on them, like genuinely, using them even when It doesn't seem necessary can help you dozens of hours down the line wondering why your logistic's storage is half iron plates for some reason, and the only way to solve is is to give the bots a 3 hour long job of power grid straining lag-strosity

My philosophy is if you're ever using an inserter to put something into a passive provider chests, especially if you are right after taking something out of it with another inserter, use buffer chest with the appropriate filter instead, and remember to have requester chests request from buffer chest (Idk why they don't do that by default). That way your logistics network can both take stuff out of it when needed, but also let your non-logistics network fed stuff still access stuff from logistics storage, and as an added bonus your logistics storage is also self sorting

Edit: 34:20 Oh my god, why does everybody keep setting up complicated storage chest setups for specifically what buffer chest are designed specifically to do? Like what you want here is a buffer chest! I think people just don't know what a buffer chest does and never bother to learn because they don't think it would help

It may be a design preference, but you can daisy-chain green/red wires. E.G. along a row of containers. You don't need to hub them on a power pole. Having the daisy-chain go to one pole at the end is still handy since you can, as you know, view the logistics on a pole. The pole will show everything on the daisy-chain. Also, there's a great mod that makes wires easy to see on mouse-over.

Nice idea for Space Age FUN mode – allow working with higher-quality items only with machines of that tier. I.e. splitter for uncommon quality must be uncommon or higher

I'm watching at around 35m in, the mall, watching you manually set all the circuit conditioms, this sounds perfect for the new parametrized blueprints! ofc not totally removing the tedium, but i feel making it much better
