The predominant modern image of the mighty Viking warriors has become that of the warmonger and marauding berserker. In popular culture, the Norsemen, portrayed as giant, sword-wielding men with flowing hair and bushy beards, have been reduced to a one-dimensional tribe of ruthless warriors, who cared little for the communities they attacked and plundered. Scandinavia is only Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Iceland is of Norse culture and Finland is a different culture.

The Normans were of Scandinavian descent. Wilhelm was in a way Viking - his father was Rolle, who came from Denmark.

Only issue with this is that William I, Duke of Normandy, was in fact a Viking descendant. The Normans were ruled by "Norsemen" or "Vikings" who were given the duchy of Normandy by the Franks so they would quit attacking the Franks. William I of Normandy can be traced back to Rollo, count of Rouen who was the first ruler of Normandy and was in fact Scandinavian. So England won it's freedom from "Vikings" just to be conquered by other Vikings.

FYI, William the Conqueror was of Viking heritage! His great, great, great grandfather was Rollo, a Viking warrior who first settled the area of Normandy aka the "land of the Norsemen"! My maternal ancestry goes all the way back to William the Conqueror, the surname "Drew", originally of French origin i.e. "Dru", one of the oldest families in England, mentioned in William the Conqueror's Doomsday Book of 1066, where he compiled all the original families of England!

The British is a bit abstract. Would be more accurate to say Anglo saksens considering British is word for all the different peoples that lived in great Britain after 1066 ad

I believe the legend of King Arthur 8:00 was actually in existence for like 400 years prior to this. He was the legend of a Britton King prior to the earlier invasion of the saxons, jutes and Angles. He was the sleeping king that never died. He went to sleep unifying “Britton” and the lore was that he would awaken when the island was in trouble. The Anglo Saxons adopted this story with much of the cultural integration but the and maybe said the this was some embodiment of story but the story did not come “from” him or his reign.

*They came from the land of the ice and snow, with the midnight sun, where the hot springs blow. The hammer of the gods drove their ships to new lands, to fight the hoards while singing and crying, "Valhalla I am coming"*

The word British as a single people as the English are a single people is like saying the Scottish and Irish are a single people, The English came to America when the Romans invaded England we came running from Constantine. The British were Roman at the time had to be well the rulers thereof anyway. I do wish to know why everyone wants to rule over the English any clues as to why they still call it England since we haven't been there in over 1500 years?
