Das „Wir“ in der Politik
Wie Sprache unsere Wirklichkeit formt.

Die Veranstaltung wird in Kooperation mit der Tageszeitung "Die Presse" organisiert.

Sprache strukturiert unsere Welt, unsere Wahrnehmung und unser Denken. Und sie ist das wichtigste Mittel der Politik. Die politische Rhetorik zielt aber nicht nur auf Information ab, vielmehr versucht sie politisches Handeln zu legitimieren und wirbt dabei für Zustimmung in der Bevölkerung. Wir stellen die Frage, an wen sich der Appell „an alle Österreicher und Österreicherinnen“ richtet. Welche Auswirkungen hat Sprache, wenn sie nicht „inklusiv“ ist? Und wie formt politische Kommunikation die Vorstellung des „Wir“?

The “we” in politics.
How language shapes our reality.

Language gives structure to our world, our perception, and our thinking. And it is politicians’ most important tool. Political rhetoric aims to impart more than just information; rather, its goal is to legitimize political actions and, while doing so, solicit approval from the population. We will be looking at the question of who is meant when politicians talk about “all Austrians.” What are the effects of non-inclusive language? And how does political communication affect our perception of the concept of “we”?
