The Doors 'Hyacinth House'

The Doors recorded "Hyacinth House" for their 1971 album, L.A. Woman. For this video, I used pictures that were taken during the Morrison Hotel period. I thought they were a better fit for the song. The photos were taken by the famed photographer, Henry Diltz.

The Doors are one of the best bands ever.

More than any other song, I've always felt that Hyacinth House highlighted Morrison's baritone voice better than any other Door's arrangement. He's not yelling or shouting, or reciting poetry. He's singing, and he had a magnificent voice.

Great song. One of my favorites from The Doors. And great photo collection.

Almost everyday I wish I could’ve been alive during the 60’s and have met Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, and many of the other mythical beings that once walked this earth.

wow nice job. great song. ran the beaches in LA from Huntington to Malibu in the 60s and later wondered if I ever was close to Jim and Ray sittin on the beach writing their next song took the kids to Venice and they were trippin bout my stories growin up in the Mecca for musicians that would leave the most indelible scratch that was the cradle of the most important music that still has legs as strong as when it was composed. the kids takin their kids just to eat pizza where Jim's mural occupies the north wall. sweet memories. PEACE

well chosen pics. morrison seemed to be the type that absorbed a lot then projected those impressions in heartfelt manner. it seems by the time of this recording he in some ways was spent. or at the very least had left behind a side of himself for good. the pics show it. in 1970 he literally aged about 5-10 years. the guy in these pics looks a lot different physically and disposition wise then the guy from '68. he looks about 30-35 & seemingly in some pics almost content. I unfortunately think the circumstances squeezed too hard at this juncture in his life w/ miami & the pressure of having to keep up w/ his image & fulfill his contractual demands. like the song seems to imply, he needed a long vacation & peace to sustain.
