7-Minute Compilation of NICE Luka Doncic Passes That Did NOT Lead to Assists

Consider this passing highlights but also shooting lowlights at the same time, as great passes and executions don't always lead to made shots.

At the time this video was made, Luka Dončić led the entire league in potential assists with 397. However, only 202 (51%) of them led to actual assists due to the overall poor shooting by the Mavs. With that said, Luka was still tied with James Harden (who had 54 fewer potential assists than Luka,) for dishing out the most assists so far in the 2020-21 season.

He should be averaging at least 13 apg. And this is where his greatness becomes his worst enemy.
He makes his teammates better then they realistically are. Since he joined the Mavs it’s all on him.
He made players like DFS, Maxi, THJ, Brunson relevant, but only if he is there. Take Luka of the team and I guarantee it, Dallas is fighting Minnesota for that last spot.

It's unbelivable that he still averages almost 10 assists/game! Luke never gets nice assist like this. He must often take crazy shoots because that's the only way they'll score any points.

7min of passes that team didn't convert to point. 10min of passes team scored. 15 min when luka scored. 10min of crazy stepback shots. 10min of crazy skills. All that highlights Luka have. And he's close to 22 years old. Think again who's best basketball player of all time.

Is there a way to calculate Luka's "true assist average" when you just take into account WIDE OPEN shots that were missed...I'm not even talking just the good passes...there were so many WIDE open looks that clanked off the rim...Lordy!
