Simplifying the difference quotient

Показать описание
👉 Learn how to evaluate the limit of a function using the difference quotient formula. The difference quotient is a measure of the average rate of change of the function over an interval, h. The limit of the difference quotient gives the derivative of the function.
The difference quotient formula states that the derivative of a function f(x) is the limit as h goes to zer0 of the quotient of the diference between f(x + h) and f(x) and h.

After 11 videos I finally found the one that breaks this down into something easier to comprehend. Thank you so much. I was on the verge of throwing my computer off my balcony. You have made this problem easy and deserve a raise.

As a 30 year old returning to pursue a physics degree and haven't touched math in 12 years, I've watched at least 10 videos of yours to catch back up to where I was when I left high school. Thank you for the concise explanations and keeping this stuff uploaded.

my advice for those trying to learn this is: DOUBLE CHECK YOUR WORK! this is a long process of simple steps. Don’t rush! Take your time and go back and check all the + & - signs and all the real tedious things in the problem. Be patient & go step by step & you’ll get the right answer! Best of luck to all of you! Great video!

college freshmen here taking calculus! My teacher is so bad nothing she explains makes sense so I just wanted to thank you big time for helping me make sense of the steps and helping me finish my homework . Your teaching strategy is really great and way better than my math professors.

You know even though these videos are over a decade old they still are surprisingly good at getting me to understand how to do these problems. Thanks for that, I don't think I would have stayed in my pre-calc class without it.

Beginning my Calculus I class this summer term, I was very intimidated by the idea of having to recall and quickly apply all the stuff I had learned my previous 2 precal courses, but I have to say by far the most valuable resource in recalling such material has been our Professor Brian McLogan, who freely distributes all the same knowledge he teaches his own students to the rest of the world, at no cost, so that we may all benefit from his extraordinary mind.
Thank you for your service!
