2012 Porsche 911 (991) revealed - offcial trailer

Porsche has officially released the 2012 911 (991) model. As expected, the 911 has been stretched some, with a wheelbase 100 mm (10 cm/3.9 inches) longer than it's predecessor.

The new 911 Carrera also comes with a body made of intelligent aluminum-steel for reduced weight and greater rigidity. The car has a wider track at the front and rides on 20-inch wheels.

Under that rear bonnet comes a 3.4 liter boxer engine with 350 PS (257 kW / 345 bhp) for the standard Carrera and a 3.8 liter with 400 PS (294 kW / 394 bhp) for the Carrera S (torque figures were not provided).

The Carrera S with the PDK transmission does the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 4.3 seconds - 4.1 with the Sport Plus function in the optional Sport Chrono package. Those numbers are 4.6 and 4.4 seconds, respectively, for the standard 911 Carrera.

Other technologies available include the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), available for the first time on the Carrera S, which provides an optimized cornering with intelligent distribution of lateral forces.

The 2012 Porsche 911 will make its global debut at the Frankfurt motor show on September 13. The model goes on sale on December 3 but will start taking orders as early as September 1.

Prices in Germany will start at €88,038 for the 911 Carrera and €102,436 for the Carrera S, VAT included. In the United Kingdom 911 models will be in Porsche Centers from December 17, 2011 at £71,449 and £81,242, respectively. Prices in the U.S. are listed at a base MSRP of $82,100 and $96,400 (excluding destination).

The design is the best Porsche so far. I can't believe how the already gorgeous curve of previous 911s can be again refined to look even better and sexier! I really need to work hard to buy one in three years!

GT2 RS was a special version of the previous generation 911 ; only 500 made and sold.
Im not shure what year is branded, but i think 2011.
This one is the 911 carrera btw ...

@artifact380 Yep, its why I've always loved them, they redesigned the chassis and made the engines better. Gas mileage and performance will be up, I do agree that the shape is generally the same but I really like the fact they haven't just reverted to a generic sports car design and they have actually made the car better.

The 911 has always been about evolution. It is the heart of Porsche and they will always be careful not to make radical styling changes to it. Like Harley Davidson, Porsche does not want to ever alianate its core custumer base (me for example). That being said I can assure you there has been a host of upgrades beneath its skin such as the first ever (in a production sports car) 7 speed manual trasmission. This is why It is the most iconic and enduring sports car in the world. Long live the 911!!

I know that supposedly Porsche is "Lazy" for never drastically re-styling or reconfiguring the 911, but to me that's what its all about. You can see the heritage and the development from the very first 911, hear the similarities, yet you can also see and here the constant evolution in the vehicle. It's a perfect unbroken curve from genesis to the latest breed, and THATS what makes he 911 special.
