People forget that workers changed the country. Not politicians. Workers wanting change didn't mean they hate the country.

Imagine telling them, if you dont like having your child work, then go to another country.

Much of the modern income/wealth inequality can be directly linked to the steady decline in private sector unions, beginning in the 70's from roughly 60%-70% to now less than 10%. No increases in minimum wage, terrible benefits, less job security, either hiring immigrants or outsourcing jobs, all could have been prevented with strong unions.

In 1868, Karl Marx (Communism) and Mikhail Bakunin (Anarchism) met with others at the First International, The International Workingmen's Association (IWA), and discussed many ideas that we currently embrace, but which those running our societies want us taught to fear.

Union membership on a decline? That's not good. We should not let the power slide back into just the employers hands.

Honestly, I wonder how it can be that there are so many who claim the USA is such a great country. I live in Germany, and from my perspective I am rather happy that I live here where, as a normal worker, I have very good rights. Here in Germany, for example, your boss cannot suddenly terminate the employment contract from now on, it is legally stipulated that your employer must give you 2 days of vacation for every month you work for him (this would mean for one year of work, you are legally entitled 24 days of vacation, which you can distribute over the year as you wish) and on days when I'm sick, my boss still has to pay me for the days if I bring the sick note from the doctor with me.

It's long overdue that we have another labor movement in this country. Enough is enough.
