Summer in the Derbyshire Dales (peak district national park) is alive with the sounds and sights of nature, from young lambs in the fields and friendly farm cows to rivers running through the Dales.

On a family holiday I grab some photos (mostly hand-held) along with some video as I explore the peaks - High Dale, Mam Tor, Monsal Dale, Chee Dale, Derwent Dam.

Derwent reservoir was used by the pilots of 617 squadron for practising the low level flights needed for operation chastise (the Dambuster raids).

Welcome to the North Russ! Seems almost strange to see one of your videos in the Peak District - I'm so used to getting a slice of the more southerly climes when I watch your videos. Great shots as always though - I really liked the wide-open vista at 4:35 and the waterfall shot at 5:07 🙂

Lovely area foir a holiday Russ.. I have only been once a few years ago when the wife booked a suprise trip for my birthday . We stayed inb a few locations (Buxton, Castleton & Matlock) but I really didn't know many of the locations and hadn't done any prepping before hand as it was a surprise trip - I would like to go back sometime with a tripod (just bought a new one) and really explore the place. Some nice pics, noticed the cement works below castleton in oneof your shots.... looks like you caught some nice light at times too - when you get like that I find you have to be reactive and don't get time to get the tripod out anyway so that worked out perfect for you. I would assume the R5 would be a great ahnd held camera - the specs, say it should be! Considering you said it was a family holiday I think you did a great job of getting footage and this is a well put together episode. Loved the look of Chee Dale, reminds me a little of a local spot here in South Wales, Clydach Gorge - I have vlogged that spot a few times. Atb Alan
