In this video we're checking out Small Faces. We know more about this band as Faces but, besides the one video we've already done, we know very little about them. But, we're excited to hear what they are all about. Enjoy!

Steve Marriott was a great singer and guitarist, check out his solo live version of "Five Long Years".

Small Faces were one off the best rock bands of all time, Steve Marriot one of the best front men of all time, Ronnie Lane also had a great voice and wrote many of 'The Faces' songs you'd probably recognize them as Rod Stewart songs.

Thank you from a subscriber. I LOVE Small Faces. This early song was their first #1 hit. Steve Marriott was highly regarded by his peers. Robert Plant (Zeppelin) idolized Small Faces and was highly influenced by Marriott. both Roger Daltry (WHO) and David Bowie have written that Steve was the best soul/rock singer UK ever produced. These 4 teenagers from London's East End were incredibly talented, very creative and quite soulful.

After Steve Marriott quit Small Faces on NY eve 1968/69, he formed Humble Pie with Peter Frampton. Rod Stewart & Ron Wood were added to the remaining Small Faces and dropped the "Small" as they weren't anymore. Although I also love Humble Pie and the Faces, IMO, neither band was as great at the mother band - Small Faces.
My Favorite Pie songs: I Wonder" (very bluesy) and "I Know You're So Good For Me" (beautiful) also "hot & Nasty is fun and a great showcase for Steve's singing.

I met the keyboard player Ian McLagen 6 weeks before he passed. He was a hell of a nice guy.

From one of your subscribers, 'Small Faces' are an excellent band, they have many great tracks, a few of my favourites are; 'Itchycoo Park', 'Lazy Sunday Afternoon', 'Ogden's Nut Gone Flake' and 'Tin Soldier'.
I'll mention your channel to my friends and spread the word.

A’Face’ was a well known person in a local area. As they were all under 1.7 metres, hence the name.

Steve Marriot had a phenomenal voice which got better with age. Humble Pie also included Peter Frampton. Try Black Coffee or 30 Days In The Hole if you want to hear Steve at his best (the live OGWT versions are terrific).

incredible clarity on that drum kit on the recording. Don Arden credited with the production at Decca.

Steve Marriott was a total gentleman and his voice is way better than Rods in my opinion. Small Faces vs Faces, Small Faces hands down better.

You have to review him singing Black Coffee with Humble Pie It's on YouTube... live on the Old Grey Whistle Test.... its one of the greatest live performances I've seen. Steve was and remains the greatest white soul singer to come from our little island
