8 Best reasons to retire to India! I've always been fascinated with India since I was a child. It is such a beautiful country and has fallen onto our list of countries with thoughts of retirement here. Unfortunately, after doing some research, it's especially difficult to retire to India. Check out my video on reasons to retire to India.

I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

But one problem.
I was checking expat rank of India and out of 68 countries India ranked 65.
Now India is 12th most friendly expat country but 7th in terms of expat salary but there is a problem of air pollution and quality of life which lot of expats didnt get in India. Low cost of living and good personal finance is what makes india preferable

Mumbai and Delhi are not the only place you get best Medical care, You get best medical care through out every state of India. I studied in Miraj Medical Center and worked briefly in India. Majority of the states has sophisticated well equipped hospitals and all English speaking. I am an OCI ( Over seas Citizen of India) It is one of most Tolerant country in the world for foreigners. Although Majority practice Hindu religion, it has more Muslim population than most of the Muslim countries. It is a secular country and with freedom of religion. There are crimes in some pockets of India but if you know what areas to avoid before going there is better. But that way in most of the countries there are crimes. Its a democratic country with many political parties. Driving in India is relatively safe if you know the local unwritten rules. People are friendly to foreigners. Love your You tube channel so far.

I Wish the government would relax those visa rules. I would think the more of us that bring our money to spend there, the better their economies would be and the better off for their people in general.

Thanks for the video... now I understand why there are nearly no videos about retiring in India: normal people from the west cannot retire there.

Great idea
But where is best temperature, clean and a bit alive.

New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata are a no to live but nice to visit.
I also like mild temperature in winter and not too hot in summer.

Thanks for that useful information. The crucial information, for me, came at the end of the video. As a non-Indian, I cannot get a visa to retire there!

I would love to live there, but everything I've learned about it tells me to cross it off my list. I will certainly visit.

Id love to retire there but from what you say it isnt possible for non Indians. I could hardly fly India to US every 6 months and then try to rent back in the US for 2 months. Retirement denotes finding your final home and staying there. That doesn't sound doable in India. Chances are when you leave for 2 months your rental would be rented to another person so you would have to search again when you returned. What if you cant find a place? what if you have to hunt during the rainy season?. And you can't even buy a little house? I'm really discouraged. I love Indian ppl, the Hindu and Buddhist religions, and especially Indian food! SIGH.

But how can a non-Indian get a visa to stay in India long-term for the purpose of retirement?
You did not cover this.

There is no retirement visa for India. The longest a foreigner can stay is 180 days out of any one year. So how can anyone "retire" there?
