I raced my 84 XR-250R in the OCCR in 84 and 85 against all 2 stroke 250's. In the woods I would leave them, the balance was perfect....and the first year front disk was amazing. On the straights, the dual carbs didn't lose much. a freakin screamin beast.
still have it in the garage, just sittin there like a trophy of my youth.

My 1st bike was an XR100R. I've also owned an XR400R and an XR650L. They were all great bikes, but the 400R really hit the sweet spot.

Have had a few of these, wonderful off roader & all rounder, keeps coming back for more no matter how much mud you throw at it.

I had both 86XR 250 and a 86DR Suzuki 200. Both were new at the time. My XR was a sound running 4 stroke and was a bit lighter on the trail (more nimble) and a well balanced bike. My Suzuki had way better suspension and lights. It also had a small tool box under the headlight that i used often. I liked the looks of my Suzuki a bit more, but damn was it a reliable machine. I’ve been miles away on that Suzuki, so much so I wouldn’t take many bikes I had on that trip. But my favorite 4 wheels will always be the 85 350 Honda odyssey I had. Fun, but to much fun, guaranteed to break something.

I still got my 86 xr 250r. 300 kit rear disc brake. I've been beating the day lights out of that bike for 30 yrs.

I raced Harescrambles on a XR in the early-mid 80's. Still have a few trophies as reminder of time we'll spent with my dad. He was a "hang over the fence, waving his hat like I was at the GP" type everything I'd come around. I miss him.

I bought the XL 250 B in the 70s it was red and black by memory new with on road costs 800$ in Australia 🦘🌏 from there onto the XL 350 silver and blue with a very heavy low swept exhaust system then a Yamaha XT 500 red black and white

I’ve owned the xl70, xr80, xr125, xr200, then went to 2Stroke and never turned back. They’re about the best bike you can get far as 4stroke old school

The Suzuki RM out classed it by a long shot .

I have a 94 xr250l it's the exact same bike as the XR250R although I've heard that the gearing is slightly different and the exhaust headers are slightly wider on the XRR as opposed to the XRL.
But the chassis and the engine is exactly the same it's just got turn signals on it and a metal tank.

It's my first dirt bike and my only dirt bike I can't say I've ever ridden another trail bike before because of that so if this is the bar I hope it only gets better cuz I'll be really disappointed what 30 years of engineering can do if it hasn't gotten better than my bike.
