A cool feature of a freighter is that you can scan entire solar systems from one console, saving you having to land on each planet.

Being able to transfer the whole base from one freghter to another is the best qol feature.

also build a few Fleet command rooms and hire more frigates as you go along... each fleet command room lets you send out away parties of up to 5 frigates to do work for you. They will travel hundreds or thousands of light years and earn you units, resources, and rare items even while you are logged off... it is possible to have multiple 5 frigate teams working at the same time if you build multiple fleet rooms and have enough frigates. It often takes many hours or a whole real life day for them to complete their missions, so it's best to get started on that to maximize your profits. its awesome logging in to fresh unexpected rewards each day, and then sending them out on a new mission before you do anything else. make it your daily No man's sky "morning ritual" lol. you can have many dozens of frigates also... they have their own class and Tier ratings, and they improve and "level up" by successfully completing missions over time.

Btw, the content of your storgage containers/rooms is the same across your entire save game. So it doesn't matter if you access it from a base or a freighter. The most useful upgrade is the "matter beam", it allows you to access the storage from everywhere, as long as your freighter is in the same system.

Going up the green lit steps from your Frieghter's HQ is your editable area. You can delete anything that is there and remake whatever layout you like, change its color, & have indoor and outdoor areas. From the center console in the HQ, you can unlock additional modules to build. My frieghter is my mobile base.

You can also build from the inside! its easier!! your first room must be the Command Room from which you send out your frigates on missions! click on the command room console to download the fuel you require for the frigates! the guy on the floor at the central console will give you the missions, sometimes your frigates will come back damaged, that is when you will need to teleport aboard to fix the damaged modules! make sure you have enough resources!

I got my first Capital Freighter the other day and now I'm hopelessly addicted to building up my freighter base, collecting Frigates and sending them on expeditions 😅 I was blown away by how much cool stuff owning a freighter opened up.

You can unlock more build parts for your freighter using that center console on the bridge. You'll need a specific resource, "Salvage Frigate Modules" to buy them. These can randomly unlock as rewards when you send your fleets out on successful missions.

They can also be found on NPC freighters that you can go full Space Pirate on and raid. Attack their cargo with your fighter in the same way you normally would mine resources when on foot.

The refinery rooms are amazing because you don’t have to worry about fuel and also they have 3 inputs.

Not sure if already stated, but there is a reset function. When you first get a freighter you can reset the base layout and start setting up your very own layout, so you are not stuck with what came with it. To me best features is system scan, the exocraft recall and teleporter and storages. I usually park it in a system I am working on something (lets say dissonant planet) but not interested on another base.

That build space is enormous. I have several builds where I use the length and width to its fullest, but I have yet to use all FIFTEEN stories.

Pretty sure the landing bay and bridge are all the same no matter the freighter you have. You can only build towards the back (up the green lit stairs from the bridge). Glad to see you still enjoying!👍

Each freighter starts you with a random set up for a freighter base. You can keep it or delete what they dud and do your own design, this is what most advanced players do. You can get more freighter parts from the middle console on the bridge. There are some cool freighter bases on YouTube You can look at to get an idea of what you can do.

You can delete and build anywhere including what is already there. You can connect hallways where there was none, and rooms/doors/bulkheads and doors wherever. You can also build multiple floors and instant teleporters between them. You are not confined to the physical logical layout, so you can go crazy.

You only get to see 6 ships at a time on your freighter out of a possible 12. You can call in any of the 12 at any time to replace your current starship. The bases you can build are the same on every freighter, there's no difference. There is a slight difference to the bridge area of Pirate freighters.

Top tip look at the command panel in Center of your freighters captains room you will see there are other parts you can aquire to make builds diffrent including stairs to build multiple floors on your freighter base
