Rupaul's Drag Race Season 14 Episode 14 Review | Hot or Rot?

Today we review and react to episode 14 of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 14 - the penultimate episode before the finale. Our final five: Bosco, Lady Camden, Willow Pill, Angeria, and Daya Betty walk the runway in their "I'm a winner Baby" runways and perform in a rumix to Rupaul's song Catwalk. We also take a look at the comments Willam made about Angeria entering the finale of Season 14 on Bob the Drag Queen's Purse First Impressions, their response about it on reddit, and their later response about those comments & apology on Race Chaser.

I'm a middle aged black woman and I understood EXACTLY what Willam was saying. Willam was talking in terms of production and "optics." If there had been an "all white" top four, ALL HELL would break loose among the viewership. People would be complaining about WOW, RuPaul and Paramount. Willam is a very perceptive person. Remember, he has been in the entertainment business since he was a teenager. What Willam said was not racist. Team Willow or Bosco.

There was no way in HELL production was going to let an all-white top 4 happen. I think anyone interpreting Willam's comments as shady towards Angie should redirect that energy towards production for treating the queens unfairly(dis- and advantages alike). Angie had a guaranteed top 4 spot the second deja and jorgeous got eliminated, Willam is just someone in the public eye who pointed it out.

I understood what Willam was saying; from a production standpoint, having an all-white set of queens in the top would look veryyy sus to viewers—especially if the BIPOC queen(s) who *didn’t* make it to the top had done really well overall during the competition. Angie going home would’ve looked shady since she’s done such a great job. The other option, sending Willow home, would’ve also been a terrible idea bc she’s also done well AND people love her as much as they love Angie, if not more. (Personally, I like both of their work.) So the only recourse was to keep them both.

Willam is absolutely right. Production hasn’t done that in years because the Black community was commenting and losing interest in the show. Representation and diversity matters. Remember this is a show that is run by the fans. They can’t afford to lose the POC audience.

Yeah, I feel like pointing out the reality of production wanting a "diverse"/ PoC-inclusive finale is fair and not at all racist. AS LONG AS you don't use that to diminish the achievements of the PoC-queens!

Nothing Willam said was offensive. It was true on a production stand point. It would look shady if 4 white queens were in the finale, 2 of which were eliminated, given Angerias track record.

I have this idea that the Runway theme the production gave to the Queens was "Princess inspired" more than "I'm a Winner" cause everybody was saying in the confessional about how they felt like princesses and it makes more sense with willow being a rat

I'm team Lady Camden, she surprised me a LOT in this competition and I think she's really doing the best at this point, but I'd also really love to see Willow or even Daya, gotta say, she grew on me and has been doing quite great too

Willam isn’t wrong though ? If it were all white contestants for the finale everyone would drag RuPaul for lack of diversity.But of course Angeria is mad talented but on top of her talent I KNOW producers where also thinking we need POC in this to not get dragged .
