Stunning British Airways Concorde Landing at New York JFK August 2003 (SilverwingSpotter)

One of my most cherished memories as a plane spotter. I captured "Speedbird Concorde 3" landing on August 3, 2003, at age 13, while standing on top of a Lincoln Navigator to have an unobstructed view over the perimeter fence along JFK's runway 13L-31R. I had seen Concorde land from the terminal a few times, but never this close. To see this sleek, futuristic beauty coming up from the southwest and hooking in on the Canarsie Approach was surreal. The high approach angle and the signature touchdown "swoosh" of tire smoke that curls outward, upward, and then inward! When the 4x Rolls-Royce Olympus 593s went into reverse, it took all of my strength to hold the shot! I'm glad I did.

The Concorde is amazing, but what amazes me the most is the fact that it took only 60 years to mankind to evolve from the Wright Flyer to this beauty flying at 2+Mach. The capacity of the human being is absolutely stunning.

Really glad to have flown on Concorde from Bahrain to London c. 1978. None of the seats in the upright position and stow trays nonsense -- the captain said over the intercom -- "Ladies and Gentlemen, we are about to take off so please hold your champagne glasses firmly."

Worked for British at JFK back in the late 70s. Just being on the plane, or watching it taxi, pulling into the terminal, was thrilling. It was a beautiful piece of machinery for sure.

I flew on Concorde and it was fantastic, like no other aircraft and the take off was like sitting in a F1 car only this went a lot faster!!

I miss her and now fly her religiously on flight Sims. She was my inspiration as a boy to become a pilot. She was the one true Queen of the Skies.

i'd have cried seeing this live. the look of it on final approach, absolutely insane. i honestly can't believe that there have been a whopping 50, 000 flights of Concordes over the years. as someone who was born in 1993, it feels to me like this plane is something out of a dream, that it never actually flew... but, behold, there it was! i wish there was some 4K spotter footage though!

Without doubt the most beautiful airliner to ever grace our skies, back in the 1970's I remember watching concorde fly over on its final approach to manchester airport and as I looked around me EVERYBODY had stopped whatever they were doing and were all staring up at the sky, no other aircraft has the magic to do this.
