To explain, the INCOMING! moment is a bird up to a hundred yards away flying into the field of view as I followed an aircraft taking off. By this point I was at a zoom level that few ordinary cameras can cope with, the plane was probably over five miles away. I increased the zoom as the plane got more distant. It might look a bit "hand-held" but it wasn't, without a tripod there would be no chance of following a moving object like that at such a zoom level. You can see how safe the plane was by how out of focus the bird was.

I have followed several aircraft across the sky at high zoom levels and I totally fail to see anything sinister or mysterious. They're a fucking long way up in the cold sky. Water vapour condenses. The trails are coming out of the engines, a short distance behind the engines as it takes a moment or two for the hot moist vapour to cool and condense.
