I rescued a Goffins. He was abused in the past and had several broken bones that didn’t heal correctly. So needless to say he is very disabled! He is my first cockatoo and yes he is clingy. But I still don’t understand how one can surrender a cockatoo once they spend time with them!

I'm happy just watching them in videos. Love birds, but don't want that level of responsibility.

It's so funny the female cockatoo trying to mock him

I volunteer at a shelter that has mostly cockatoos. They can be quite crazy and I’ve been bitten many times but they are also so fun and loving and they are definitely my favorite birds ever ❤

I have a cockatiel, Baby, and he lives up to the reputation they have for being sweet-natured. That said, he definitely is VERY bonded to me and needs and demands a LOT of attention.
And every bit of it is worth it. He's a fantastic and wonderful companion.

The best is parrot to have are their Australian cousins the cockatiels! My cockatiel is turning 11 this year and I absolutely love him! Everyone I’ve met who currently has one or had one in the past 100% agree they are the absolute best! ❤❤❤❤

Cockatoos are bonkers, but I absolutely love them! I had a Goffin's I rescued in 2023 (she passed 6 months later and it broke my ❤), and I now have a Bare-eyed Cockatoo. My Bare-eyed was in the rescue for 2 years before he came home with me. I volunteer for the parrot rescue that he was at. After I'm done cleaning, feeding, changing water, etc at the rescue, you can always find me in the cockatoo room just sitting there and enjoying their company. As an introvert who loves my quiet/alone time and hates drama, everyone at the rescue is surprised that my favorite room there is the cockatoo room. It doesn't make sense to me either lol.😊
I think the only way I could handle owning an Umbrella is if I had no other pets and could devote all my time to it, which is not the case right now. For the time being, I'll just love on them at the rescue while they wait for their forever home. Please please, adopt don't shop for your next feathered friend!!!❤

I love the "standard features", nearly fell over. I'm an Aussie and used to live next to a Nature Reserve so the local flocks (Sulfur crested and galahs) loved our balcony. The sulfurs are affectionately known as "Sky vandals" but I figure it's not surprising, given their intelligence and long life, that they get bored and go looking for mischief. My companion dino is a cockatiel, the smallest member of the family but just as 'cocky' when it comes to attitude 😁

My buddy has a umbrella definitely love showing off and even though she has bitten me before it doesn’t change how I feel about her because most of the time she is sweet and gotten to point she is happy to see me when she does

Brilliant spot on informative video ❤️
I adore Moluccan and major Mitchells - but you honestly could not pay me to have either as a pet.
The only cockatoo I would even contemplate having (in a world where I apparently won the lottery and one needed a home ) is a black palm cockatoo. Perhaps I was just lucky to have met an exceptional individual who I made friends with, but she was an absolute dreamboat. She got along with everyone, very curious but missing that crazy cockatoo jealous streak.

Of course, all of this is moot because I am a large macaw girl .❤

I've heard that cocatoos are very dependant and social. Never ignore and not interactions all day lon

Some people are just too sensitive and overall cupcakes to own parrots. I have a mindful of crazy thoughts whenever I hear about how anyone could harm one. Its like harming a newborn. If you canf take a bite and or will take it personally and think he/she "Doesn't like you", then you dont need a parrot and in it for wrong reason.

First parrot I had was an Umbrella. Can confirm. 🤣

Have you been to Australia and met the wild cockatoos there? They seem really common in the big cities.

Where is your video on why you don't cover your birds cages at night? Is it because they'll eat the cover? What about putting a cage near a window si they know it's nighttime.
