Показать описание
In January 2013 „Izimvo Zethu" (Xhosa for: „Our View") went on the air! It is the first TV-show with a national reach in South Africa that is entirely produced by a Township Film Group from Port Elizabeth.
The Masifunde Film Group is a group of learners from Walmer Township in Port Elizabeth. Over the past year the group between the ages of 16 and 20 has attended workshops about documentary film production, facilitated by award-winning documentary filmmaker Sebastian Kuhn. The group has learned to conduct research, prepare for production, shoot, edit and export their own videos.
Now, with the kind support of BayTV, they are ready to take their film making to the next level. The focus will be on portraits of interesting people from within the township, success stories from the community and Xhosa culture.
It is a one of a kind opportunity to get inside perspectives of a South African Township. The broadcasts will empower the community to tell their stories and be heard
Episode 5: Church Dancers
