Brilliant! You saved my mac and iPhone from certain destruction and myself from a heart attack ;)

1. You can change the calculation option for the current route by clicking on the grey 'options' (3:26)
2. The direct option will take you to the nearest point of the route, which is handy if you deviate from the route half way and want to continue the route later (after a break for instance)
3. Before the export it is handy to change the name of the route to .gpx that way the file will be recognised by your pc as gpx file

I am using the app more for directions and the Garmin NAV VI for the map view. I have noticed that when you stop, such as to gas up, the app takes a bit to catch back up to where you are. It tends to try to retrace the route, though rather quickly, from the start. This did prove to be a problem on a recent ride since the app doesn't tell you that you have to turn until you are less than a 1/4 mile from the turn. I stopped for gas and got back on the road. I passed the turn before the app caught up with me and had me circling through a little town (even tried to get me to ride through a farmer's field).

Other than this little issue, I am starting to like it better since the Garmin tries to constantly recalculate the route, even when "recalculation" is turned off.

Thanks for the video, Just wonder, Do you have any idea how to export the map with the route and all the performance along the route?

Hi Thanks for this. Is there a way to send a route from the motorrad app directly to my nav 6?

Hello.
The application seems practical for daily route planning. However, I need a program running on a PC, such as Garmin Basecamp, so that I can plan a few days' route with a program on the computer and just press the "go" button at the beginning of the motorcycle.
The routes I made with Basecamp do not work compatible with BMW Motorrad Connected Ride. Frankly, I couldn't figure out how it recalculated and made the route different from what I planned.
1-BMW should develop a software that runs on the PC, with which we can make 1-10 day mid-range planning.
2-Routes must be transferred to the BMW Navigation device via software.

I would be happy to know, if you have any practical suggestions on this matter.

Best regards,

So I am getting rid of my Nav 6 and getting a new RR with the LCD screen. My pal designs our routes, previously used by us all on Nav 6's as GPX files and we upload to to follow. These are comprehensive routes and designed on roads he knows. Essentially I can import these Gpx files now to the app and it will throw the same directions up on my screen as the boys are seeing on their Nav 6's less the map display?

Also to ensure it does not deviate can you deselect all 'fast/direct' tabs or does it default to have just one? I want to stay on the same route the GPX file dictates!

Great video thank you, question if i may, I also invested in the Nav 6, but have been using "my route app" as my main route planning tool before i bought my GS late last year, how can i tell the BMW where to search to get routes from "my route app" (either on my i phone or Mac) into the BMW app via the "import routes" setting you mention ?. Sorry for the naivety of the question. I want to utilise my i phone XR and the great K Moon phone mount which seems very good on initial use.

Thanks for the video. It's particularly useful as I'm hoping to buy a new R1250RT soon, but you can't yet get to a showroom easily and the latest version of the BMW app won't even load without connecting to a bike first. I have a very specific question which I hope you can answer. I've taken extensive holidays in Europe over the past 15 years. I plan the (very) detailed routes at home and use a BMW GPS while away. I always set the routing option to "Do Not Recalculate" because if I come across a closed road or a herd of goats down a back street, or I just miss a turning I want to be able to find my own route round the local difficulty without losing the route I've carefully crafted because the GPS thinks it knows better . In your video there doesn't seem to be any setting for this and I wonder if the default behaviour is to recalculate or not recalculate if you import a GPX file and then deviate from the specific route you've entered?

Can you easily reverse your trip in the BMW Motorrad Navigation app?

How did you generate the .gpx file yo upload? Was that on a separate application?

Maybe I missed it....If you've carefully laid out you track before hand and you DON'T WANT any recalc's done by the connected app, will it just do that. Will it just navigate the way it's told per the imported GPX without changing anything? Suppose you just want to enter your route from the closest waypoint instead of from the beginning point?

when I go to the maps screen in the Motorrad Connected app, ...I do not have the 3 dots in the top right the search bar. Any idea what's going on?

Nice tutorial, but when you imported your route you had two files, one with 55 support points and one with 3654 support points. Why did you only import the one with 55 points? Would the other file with more points not have been more precise?

Great video but where does the map data itself come from? I can plug a Garmin Edge bicycling GPS device into Basecamp and then design a route and export it as a .GPX file onto my iPhone, but judging from file size the map of the state(s) is not included. The maps do NOT live on Basecamp (only uses them when Edge GPS is connected). Do the maps themselves get downloaded onto iPhone from somewhere (how?) then how does the Motorrad App pickup on the maps and transfer that data to the TFT. Or can it use the built-in Apple maps (TomTom/OpenStreetMap) as long as the cellular connection stays up? If I drop cellular, my iPhone can't find the maps anymore beyond what it has just automagically downloaded, so what if I need to expand on that area? Does the BMW app even reference those maps - else where does it get the map? Nobody ever talks about the map data itself, without them a .GPX route is useless. What am I missing? I'm picking up my RT in a few weeks and won't have time to spend sorting all this out so thanks for any guidance!

Hi - thanks for the video. In the process of changing bikes and NAV so goodbye Nav 5 and hello TFT BMW Connected. I'm working with MyRouteApp which seems to work well with the app on the couple of test rides have had but I have the choice to save my routes in various formats including .gpx1.0 and .gpx1.1 - any idea of the merits of either?
