“I want to draw, but I have no motivation…”

By far the most common question I get asked other than 'what program/brushes are you using' is 'what do I do when I want to draw, but I lack the motivation/inspiration?' So today I'm going to run you through what I do in times like that~

When you're depressed but inspired so you just lie in bed staring at the ceiling with your tablet just a few feet away like "Man, I'd love to draw right now..."

I've actually heard the "Let yourself be bored" a lot, if not my whole life. And I tend to forget it, because as an autistic person, I kind of "need" to be always occupied.

Some things that help me are:
-brushing/braiding my hair
-staring at my ceiling
-putting cute stickers on things
-exercising (super beneficial for when I am not motivated)

The last part is so true. Sometimes, you’re just not gonna feel inspired or motivated that day, maybe you’re not gonna make the best drawing, but sometimes you just gotta sit down and force yourself to do it.
I do this a lot when I have problems with I just force myself to do something bc I know that after this I will hopefully get better.

I agree! Alot of people tend to blur the lines between art block and lack of motivation/inspiration. It's not the same guys!

I always get art ideas when I'm trying to fall asleep, so I write them down and then read it the next day when I'm not delirious and realize they were terrible 😅

Whenever I'm uninspired, I just start researching stuff. Usually fashion history, art history or just history in general. Our world is filled with so many interesting things that if you start to look into it, you can find hundreds of inspiring things.
