When I was in high school, i played this to empress everyone. At the time, we all learned with 2 mallets. Holding 3, 4, or even 6 was a flex in itself, nevermind what youre playing. This is my go to song to play in any band hall.

I played this solo and got superior and now today I have to play at state for solo and ensemble. This solo is a great choice for a first 4 mallet solo, but keep in mind that it isn't very simple. It is very challenging with some rythyms and dynamics and stuff, but once you get that down this song will become so fun to play. I totally reccomend this!

That is a beautiful marimba. I'm imagine it would cost an arm and a leg, meaning I could no longer play it. Shame.

I have been dying to hear a quality recording and playing of this since I heard it years back in high school, I could not be happier to finally see one pop up, and SO beautifully played no less! thank you so much to Vic Firth and Garrett Arney for making this!!

Haven't touched a marimba in about 1 year since I moved... learnt this piece 2 years ago, never mastered the phrasing, but this piece was a blast to play

Learning this for my solo this year. I’ve been auxiliary for my band for the past 2 years and I had some experience on the marimba. I’m not necessarily new to the 4 mallet pieces but I’m still learning. I have about 40% of this song complete for solo and ensemble. Deadline is in 2 weeks from now. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to memorize this but I’m trying to the best of my ability.

I love this piece. I'd like to take this next year, having recently finished up Yellow After the Rain, but my director wants me to take Concerto for Marimba, by Paul Creston. It does seem like a wonderful piece, too, so I might just take it.
