Vote 2024: Amendment 5 explained

Amendment 5 impacts property taxes. It is related to adjustments to the value of certain homestead exemptions.

1:10 we need less government. A lot of FL government needs to be defunded. I'm all for lower taxes. VOTE YES ON 5!! Gov't gets plenty of money already; they waste a lot of it.

We shouldn’t be paying the non realised property tax! It is unconstitutional and illegal to tax citizens on the value of the house that not sold! No to property non realised taxation!

Wouldnt this enable the New Yorkers to stay and even bring more along with them ? Since they just buy their houses outright

If you live in FL you know you don't pay income taxes. The local govt gets funded largely through these property taxes! Miami-Dade county for instance has already been keeping the millage rate flat to account for the tight cost of living. If you cut the tax rate, they may have to adjust the millage rate to balance the budget. And, most of all, why are they trying to do something complicated and administratively expensive rather than just suggesting a flat increase to the exemption? That would pass, no issue!

Vote yes on the 3 and yes on 5, the taxation of the sale of legal marijuana will make up for the loss in revenue from homeowners.
