The group reconvened in 1998 at the suggestion of Rob Gretton.
Nearly 5 years had passed since they had last seen each other.
By the second meeting everyone agreed to continue playing, scheduling their reunion gig for the Phoenix Festival that same year. In addition to rarer songs, New Order also decided to begin playing Joy Division songs again.
When the Phoenix Festival was cancelled due to low ticket sales, New Order instead played the last night of that year's Reading Festival.

I remember seeing another clip of Garbage coming on after New Order to headline and saying something along the lines of 'how are we supposed to follow that'

Stephen Morris is one of the world's most underrated drummers. Killer groove, great meter, and never overplays.

Temptation! Always one of my favorites. God I miss the 80s and 90s!

The 90s were probably the best time to see new order live

It was 1988. New Order arrived for Brazil tour and saw them on the cover of a magazine a week before. Thirty three years I am here to say that this band changed my life from that day forever...

Do you reckon in 100 years' time some teenager will be trawling through historical internet archives and be sitting, mesmerized by the primitive brilliance of this band from the 1980's and 90s.

This performance of True Faith is absolutely fantastic.
New Order liked to claim they were not technically proficient performers, but by the time of this concert, they had really perfected their sound and performance.

A treasured moment of the real thing. New Order together. The original Joy Division musicians in their established new lineup giving some love to their heritage and their fans. Stephen and Peter are working very hard and are really great together... Barney is doing his vocals and guitars carrying the songs and Gillian is icing the cake.

Like a beautiful view it amazes every time and I never get over it.

Their perfection is the creativity, love, and passion!

The most influential band of the 80s/90s, even after all these years so fresh.

Their last time together. and their best concert.
Like Talking Heads, one last killer show and then it was all over.

I really love this band but one of the things I liked the most was Gillian. Her "I dont give a fuck" attitude was legendary. She was always like "whatever", but at the same time she was back there controlling so many sounds that made her calmness ridiculously awesome. I salute you boys and girls from the Gen X... you know what's up.

That performance of Touched by the Hand of God is phenomenal, that bassline is incredible. One of their best ever gigs. Thanks for uploading

I love that she's using a Roland XP-80. That's one very awesome and very capable board in any era.

Killer performance by a killer band! I have loved them since first hearing Temptation on the radio (WNEW-FM).

I was there. What a night. Best gig I have ever been to. I was expecting nothing, but they were astonishing. They lit up that festival. Magnificent.
