Kilala natin si Doktor Jose Rizal bilang Pambansang Bayani na maraming kasanayan at ipinaglaban ang ating kalayaan sa pamamagitan ng mapayapang paraan at hindi sa karahasan. Ngunit kung ating susuriin ang kanyang talambuhay, malaking bahagi ng kanyang pagkatao ay hinubog ng kapatirang Freemasonry na kung saan nakatulong sa kanya upang maisakatuparan ang ipinaglalaban nyang kalayaan.

Brother Dr Jose Rizal joined Logia Acacia No. 9 of the Gran Oriente de España in Madrid, Spain in 1883. Grande Oriente ( GOdE) was a member of the International Masonic Association, which was under the influence of the Grand Orient de France.
Logia Solidaridad was admitted to the federation of the Grande Oriente Español and chartered No. 53 on May 15, 1890. Here he was made a Master Mason on November 15, 1890.

Grande Oriente Español is a Continental Freemasonry, otherwise known as Liberal Freemasonry, Latin Freemasonry and Adogmatic Freemasonry this includes the Masonic lodges, primarily on the European continent, that recognize the Grand Orient de France (GOdF) or belong to CLIPSAS, SIMPA, TRACIA, CIMAS, COMAM, CATENA, GLUA, or any of various other international organizations of Liberal, Continental Freemasonry.
