Native French speaker here. I don't use subjunctive after 'Il est évident que' (4:08) and subjunctive would definitely sound weird contrary to other cases where it is optional. I suppose you could argue 'evident' is an opinion but it is more about an objective reality than 'nécessaire' or 'normal'. Speaking of 'que', I learned the subjunctive forms at school preceded by 'que' precisely to distinguish them from indicative so that I was shocked at 3:01 until realizing it is subjunctive (duh the subject of the video, but it quickly followed a part about indicative 2:38-2:46 so that I was confused). Subjunctive is losing ground anyway, especially in everyday speech, but indeed it is still unavoidable in some cases and marks the well-taught speaker. Excellent accent by the way ;)

This is the first video of yours I've watched. I absolutely loved the, "Thanks, France, " peppered here and there in the video.

This is the first explanation that actually makes the "mood" part of it make sense. It does kind of remind me of how in (some dialects of) English we say to "never speak in absolutes" when expressing opinions or making inquiries/requests while in polite company, which is interesting.

I really love your teaching style. I realise that I have sometimes been using the subjunctive without realising it and also I do prefer to use je dois aller plutôt qu, il fait que j' y alle...because it rolls off the tongue more easily.
