Sounds like you are having fun :)
You do not need to connect the AP to the network to do a layer 2 site survey. You just need to power it up and turn on the radios.

Really great info - thanks! I love my WiSpy DBx and am plotting... er... planning top pick up an Air Pcap :)

One question: in regards to the Cisco AP for the layer 2 component of the survey, are you actually on a live network hooked into the site's core switch(es), or is it a dry/local network which you're connecting to in order to get signal strength readings for coverage measurements?
