A more lengthy lecture on Finnish folklore: "Karelian Magic - 1920" and "Spirit(s) of the Sauna: Seen and Unseen Beings in Finnish Folklore".

I would say Christianity was very effective in stopping all pagan/original gods worship in Finland. Most Finnish people don't know much anything than some names from our old mythology. The whole topic about it basically saying Kalevala is our national epoch (I was not required to read it at school) where as (Christian) Religion is taught and known much better. I didn't even know Midsommar (Juhannus in Finnish) celebrates specifically Ukko though I did now it was pagan in origin. The name was changed to Juhannus from St. John the Baptist (Johannes in finnish) when Cristianity came. I don't know the original Finnish name for Juhannus.
