Cleaning the 10 Gallon Tank - Step By Step

This is my step by step video on how I clean my 10 gallon, sand bottom, live planted aquarium.

If you don't have sand then you can dig the siphon hose or vacuum hose (same thing) into the gravel about an inch and lift back up. If you have live plants be careful around the roots so they don't get damaged.

Update from the Kavanagh Family. It is Sunday, April 12, 2020. Wishing a safe, peaceful Easter Sunday during this COVID-19 Pandemic. The fourth molly died to ich. We had the four molly fish for almost 3 months in the 10 gallon tank in daughter's bedroom. Now will empty out all of the water, clean all gravel, artificial plants, bubbler, coral, scrub tank, re-treat water and start new again. They four molly fish were really fun, moved throughout the tank often and were cool to watch. Lost all four within 2 weeks. We buried all four in our garden. This is so cool!!! I love your setup. I have a 5 gal for my beta and it’s upstairs in my room so when I need to clean it I have to lug it downstairs and clean it out, replace most of the water, and lug it back up. I was thinking about getting a 10 gal because I want my beta and some other fish with it (safe with betas) but I had no idea how to clean it. Thanks for the tutorial!! Seems really expensive though 😪

I have a Gubby tank with some shrimps in it. To controll the population i feed the baby shrimps and gubbys to my beta. I kinda like that way but the ammonia levels on my beta tank get a little bit high sometimes. How much water do i need to get rid off each time always bothers me because the ammonia levels are not consistent.

I think this is the best one I've seen. I got big tank acqurium and did not know about it. Had 3 goldfish 2 year in little fish bowl and got tank acqurium and then they died and I got a very bad bacteria infection and I am trying to get better. But I restarted the tank acqurium and then left for 2week before putting 1 fish in and then got more but I have looked up a lot of stuff and this one just explain more.

What kind of fish pump are you using... appears to be an underwater one that gives you a lot of bubbles. Seems a good choice for filtering and for oxygen.

I have a 5 gallon tank with a male betta. Must I take him out to do a change and clean? I was told netting the fish can be harmful and he's way too fast for me to get him into his cup (I bought him in this cup). Can I do the clean and change with him in it?

I have a question, or two. If I dont pre-filter and my water sucks too, what can I do besides adding the chlorine remover? What “stuff” did you put in your buckets before immediately pouring the water into the tank? I didnt realize one could do this with the fish still in the tank. This is very helpful. We just filled our 10-gallon today. We get our fish on Wednesday. I wish I had real plants for them.

Nice video. How many Glofish cosmic tetra fish do you recommend to put in a 10 gallon tank? I can see that you have at least 8 fish.
