Behringer X32 - Parallel Processing of an Input

preview_player
Показать описание
This is a video showing that you can take one input and assign it to multiple faders to allow for different processing on a per fader basis.

A rare thing to do, but it would allow you to have fader one have lots of compression and fader two to have no compression, giving you the ability to mix between a compressed and non compressed version of the same input.

No, you cannot route two inputs to one fader. One option is to use a DCA and assign it to multiple faders to use as one fader. The DCA would work as a remote control to all of the faders assigned to that DCA. I have a video uploaded explaining the use of DCA's, go check it out!

Drew, thank you so much for all of your videos. You explain things in 1/10th the time with 200% more content than the manufacturer's videos, (unless it is a Behringer video featuring you...)

True, but it is nice to know that it works on this board!

Sorry, I have not connected it into a DAW quite yet to do multi track recording yet. I have only recorded to a thumb drive via the USB slot on the X32.

Ive done this a few times on the m32. its prettty usefull. Either for setting up a quick channel split for monitors without having to use a y split. Or for doing some widening with duplicating a channel twice panning them left and right delaying each channel and eqing them differently.

FYI the X32 can do parallel compression without taking up two channels. On the second page of the compressor settings, there's a "mix" knob that goes from 0-100%. This blends the compressed and uncompressed signals—100% is fully compressed, and 0% completely bypasses the compressor. If you want quick access and control over this, just assign it to one of the user assignable rotary encoders!

There are other reasons to do parallel processing, so this video is useful (thanks!) but the most common scenario is for parallel compression and you don't have to burn a channel to do that. This might have been a new feature in Firmware 2.0, I'm not sure.

Drew we need an updated video on this topic. PLEASE I beg of u lol

The concept you explain in your video is actually called lateral compression/processing. Parallel processing is using either groups or auxes routed to the mains.

Nice video! Just wondering if you know whether or not you can stereo link two channels so that the EQ, compressor, gate, etc. are the same on both channels?

Wonder if you can set phase reversal on one of the two inputs.
I managed to do that on a desk once (with a y-cable). It made for quite a cool sound, useless, but interesting.
Compressed source - Clean source. Try it some time.

Hi I was wondering; have you used this recording yet? if so do you know if what you have shown in this vid can be done into recording software, wot I mean is;
Can I send a multitrack recording back into each channel of the desk, process and send to new channels assigned to my daw? this would then give me pre EQ recordings and post EQ recordings of the same signal

Is it possible to route a card input from a DAW to a channel the way you just showed? Or is this physical inputs only?
And is there a way to do parallel buss processing for a drum subgroup or something like that?

so, if you have one input under two faders, is it also possible to have two input under one fader?

Of course you can (e.g sending channel 1 to bus 1/2 as drums sub group and sending it to bus 3/4 with heavy compression you can get even more flexible with using the DCAs), but when I tried it there was same bad phasing latency, with bus compressor and the wave designer insert fx.... But I sent drum channels to main and not the drums bus to main. SO maybe that is why there was this really annoying latency. I'll try again as soon as Im back to my studio.

Can you use parallel compression with the x32 on a group by sending both group 1(drums) for example out main L&R and to group 2 (inserted heavy compression) with group 2 output also going out main L&R?

Is there still latency that can cause comb filtering now? Or is this an older problem?

What if I want to change the eq settings on the different channels. Let’s take for instance, if I want to do that for my kick drums, can I change the eq settings to have produce my kick in and kick out channels

Hi, thanks for sharing! But I think that it does not "copy" the input settings (gain/phantom power) betweens the two channels. I believe that both channels are accessing(reading/writing) the the same input settings for input 1. After the input the two channels process the signal in their own way.

Hi, i have a question, i want to record the second chanel in my daw, but the signail is not getting recorder in my daw, how i can take the signal from the mic for example mic one, then rute the same mic in my chanel two and then record this chanell aswell, it is not workin, nclusive in my daw there is no signal into the second chanel, thanks in advance for your help

Q - Is the FOH PA assigned to any channels by default or do you assign them yourself. If so, how do you do that ???
If you already have that in a video you can just direct me there =)

Thank you.
