Nikon D7000 Unboxing

Nikon finally sent a D7000 to play with and I could not be more excited. You can expect to see a full rundown of each button on the camera as well as a guide to how to set your Nikon D7000's menu.

My D7000 is my third Nikon (I wouldn't own a Canon if you PAID me!), and I absolutely LOVE it! It takes amazing photos, and the video quality is very good. The only two things I wish that were different with this camera are: 1) that the LCD screen flipped out for front viewing, and 2) there was no time limit on video recording. Otherwise, this is quite possibly the last camera I will ever buy, not because I'm cheap but because this is such a great camera. Of course, IF I had the money, I'd buy the D4 or D5, but I still have to make my mortgage payments.

I'm incredibly excited to hear your take on the Sigma. I am in the market for a normal DX zoom, and while I have had really good experience with Sigma in the past, I want to be sure I shouldn't just go for the Nikon glass.

I could be wrong but i "think" he means the 18-50mm f2.8 (non-OS) that was discontinued. He mentioned this lens in one of his other videos. It's a pretty sweet lens indeed.

I'm perfectly happy with my d7000! It's awesome looking forward to see what you do with the user1 and 2 settings and any small details I haven't noticed about the menus along with some settings I might need changing well see! Looking forward to it Jared!

I own this camera and agree the camera does smell like 7000 butterflies in a field of lavender, Jared u crack me up LOL can't wait for the review. I bought the body only then picked up the 35mm 1.8 g and the 18-200 vrII 3.5/ 5.6 will be starting my five year plan to the trinity. keep up the good work JP.

@Spaeckli id get a 16-85 and the 70-200, i personally think thats a good combo with the wide angle but we'll see what jared says. maybe a 18-50 2.8?

I'm hoping to order my D7000 here in a couple weeks. Hopefully Amazon stays in stock. I'm buying the 35mm f1.8 with it, but I'm also getting the kit, so I'll have the 18-105, which I would like for general photography. It's going to be so much fun, time to retire my D60.

Jared, I can't decide whether or not I should upgrade from a D3100 (which I've definitely outgrown) to the D7000 or get the Nikon 16-85mm. I have a 50mm 1.8 which I love and a few others telephoto etc. but the problem is my only normal zoom lens is the piece of crap 18-55 kit lens. I shoot sports for my high school (but also family weddings for fun, etc.) so getting the 16-85mm would make no difference to me when it comes to sports, while the D7000 would be a huge step up especially for sports

Hi Jared, I've been saving up for this camera, then im gonna be buying this very soon, what would be the best recommended lens for portrait for D7000? I'm looking at Nikkor 24-70mm, but it's for FX camera. Would the quality be compromise of the conversion something? Or should i go for 17-55mm which is also a pro lens but for DX camera. I wanted to have zoom pro lens, but not the 70-200mm vr II yet. pls reply....

Hi Jared, I'm about to buy my 1st DSLR camera, and I was wonder for which one should I go, for D3300 or D7000? (I will use the 18-200mm NIKON lens on it.

Jared, I am thinking of upgrading to a D7000 from my exisiting 2 years old D5000 mainly for its better ergonomics and the fact that it has a built-in focussing motor, better ISO performance, high res screen ( the one on D5000 sucks ) and more physical buttons for changing the settings as well as the screen on the top.

Is it a good time to buy the D7000 now or should I wait for its replacement rumoured. I can wait 5-6 months if its going to be worth the wait.
