In America, file a complaint to the FTC Federal Trade Commission and also report it to your State’s Consumer Affairs. You can also dispute the charges on your credit card and force a charge-back. It forces Etsy to justify the charges which gives you access to an individual higher up in the food chain to contact with whom you can directly communicate and come to a resolution like reinstate your account or they refund your money. Keep in mind that TOS are not the Ten Commandments written in stone. They can’t just point to TOS and say “Womp Womp you agreed that your $15 is non-refundable and your account looks suspicious…sorry not sorry…” That’s not okay nor legal; therefore, unenforceable.

Do not build your business on Etsy. You don't own your customer data, you cannot do email marketing, they will suspend you eventually and you will pour hundreds of hours into your shop for little to no sales. It is broken. Skip it. "If you build it they will come" does NOT work on Etsy anymore. The youtubers ignoring this all do so because they have Etsy courses and Etsy coaching programs as their main business.

Another gripe I have with Etsy is that it's allowing so much copyright infringement. Their first page is covered with Disney images. They must see it. Also the people selling stuff from Walmart and claiming they made it by hand changed 4x the Walmart price. They are so quick to shut some people down while letting others go for years.

Etsy needs to face a full-blown class action suit for deceptive business practices. I'm sure there are plenty of hungry lawyers who would love to take on such a case. Just a thought, but hope it comes true.

Completely right, I sent Etsy to my blacklist since then. Just opened a shop, paid Etsy 15$ and 2 days later lost the money

1) Etsy needs to turn off their AI & algorithms and spend some money on actual human staff. 2) Etsy needs to stop making their AI and/or algorithm the overriding authority that out-votes humans. 3) Etsy needs to make it absolutely crystal clear as to EXACTLY what an accountholder did to get suspended. 4) Etsy needs to get out of the clutches of the money-hungry "investors" (large, wealthy companies) who are slowly but surely squeezing it to death. #1 is extremely unlikely. #2 should be relatively easy but they have to actively decide to do it. #3 should have been done from the start and the absence of this simple bit of ethics needs to be the foundation of a very large anti-Etsy lawsuit. #4 ain't gonna happen, RIP Etsy.

Yes, I wonder if there will be a class action suit in their future. At the very least, it's massively unethical. Starla Moore did a great video on the Etsy investor call where the CEO talks about cleaning up the platform and basically eliminating a lot of sellers who lack "the sill or the will." So she believes more suspensions are coming. Perhaps they'll eventually move to an approval process like Amazom Merch.

No surprise. "Who are the largest shareholders of Etsy?
Largest shareholders include Vanguard Group Inc, BlackRock Inc., Capital International Investors, Goldman Sachs Group Inc, Van Eck Associates Corp, State Street Corp, MOAT - VanEck Vectors Morningstar Wide Moat ETF, Bares Capital Management, Inc., VTSMX - Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund Investor Shares, and ...."

If none of those things work, speak to your bank about paying for a service you have not received, etsy is fraudulently taking your money by refusing to provide the service or return your money. There is a thing called a chargeback. Also consumer protection laws may provide you some protection, .

What I do not understand is how print on demand is any kind of art? Etsy is for people who make handmade items, how is print on demand artwork or handmade?

I have the same problem, after months of planning and designing, I pay the $15 to open the store, pay for Canva Pro, pay for mock ups etc, my account got suspended. I filed an appeal and got an email with the same reply of your video too. Completely banned my store and account without any reason. A lot of work, money and especially time wasted, very frustrating.

You are completely right. I had a jewelry shop 5 month old with ongoing orders, 5 star review, it was closed. appeal was answered with an autimatic email as the one of Karen. I have another shop 2 years old, selling tumblers, Ihave used the chat option to reach out to support, and i asked what is the deal with my closed shop, a certain MARIA answered in the chat, after contacting support my tumbler shop also was closed, now you are getting closed even for contacting support? it is really crazy, do you have a plan to get people together and petition to Etsy or a higher autority?

Started coding an Etsy competitor a week ago. If they don't want good honest business, I'll take it.

Even FB will tell you what policy you violated when they suspend you. How can you suspend, refuse explanation, then say that you can't talk about the account further? That's very suspicious.

I was going to create an Etsy store but after seeing your video and other videos about Etsy I have decided against it for now. It’s given me the push to set up my own store using Wordpress and Woo Commerce. I might look into an Etsy store in the future? I’m going to put all my efforts into my own web site. Thanks for a very interesting video. Best wishes, Colin.

YouTubers aren't talking about it as they're part of Etsy's affiliate program...

As you said, $15 isn't that much, but multiple that by the amount of people getting suspended. Wow! They are making a lot of money, literally doing nothing.
