I can't get over how that logo is just a box with text, not blending into the colour

I would save up a bit more and get one of the Ibanez offerings, second hand market £550-650 will probably bag you a decent one!

Hey Johny, thnx for video! I think the main thing here is that there are almost no fanned frets basses for this price (despite few years back many players predicted there will be A LOT of options on the market soon). Therefore you either buy this g4m, or... Or spend 1000 euros for Ibanex btb with fanned frets and 37 or something inches scale lenght. Personally I would love to see more options for different budgets, but we have what we have...

The Redsub Colisuem is back again. What will it be called next time? Patrick Hunter said it didn't feel like a quality instrument, but it's great to see some budget instruments in a multiscale.

Bought one of these a few years ago, when it was still the Redsub Coliseum, as b stock for like £220. Its a great project instrument.

It sounded great, but with a few adjustments, it sounds phenomenal.

First, I got the action super low. Then I swapped the blend control for the Dingwall 2x pickup selector, replaced the preamp with a Darkglass Tone Capsule, and swapped the pickups for Dingwall FD3N. I finished with a pickguard which i made from scratch.

Im in no way a learned guitar tech, but everything was easy to learn w youtube and google.

Overall, it was a £630 investment over 3 years, and it sounds real damn close to a Dingwall NG2 (the low B is ever so slightly less bright, tested against a real Dingwall).

All in all, same sound for over £1.5k less money.

The self lubricating nut is actually designed to lubricate your fingers, for extra smoothness while playing.
It's quite clever really.

I saw one of these ata local gig, couldn't find the brand but thought it was cool! Nice to finally know what it was!

Harley benton just released their equivalent product. Hope you get your hands on that!

Very nice demo and review 🤘I'm really intersted in trying out the 6 string version of this bass.

Really curious to hear how it sounds through my EBS rig and Darkglass pedals 😎

Thank you for this video and you've earned a sub 🙌

I have the RedSub Coliseum V the model before these, and they are great for anyone on a budget but after a fanfret or wanting to try one without busting the bank!

The only thing I’ve done is swapped out the pickups for some EMG SSD’s as a personal preference but other then that great bass all around, not heavy either.

Get some of those Dingstrand Nordwall pickups and you're good to go.

Don't know if you took the back plate off but the pre amp is adjustable for output so you can get rid of any unwanted distortion/fuzz at source. I have mine set fairly low so it doesn't colour the sound too much.

Good review. You definitely picked up on the design issues these have (i've had the 4, 5, and 6). You won't be able to upgrade/setup this bass to compete with Dingwalls/Ibanez, but they ARE a good opportunity to get the aesthetics and a good metal bass for the price.

They can be quite a treat at the price. I ordered mine from Germany and it took multiple attempts: the 1st one they sent me was the old version with the non-baked maple neck. Terrible fret sprouts, the nut edge kept cutting the palm of my hand and so on. The 2nd one came with a broken neck (as they were all poorly packaged) and the 3rd one was alright - as soon as I figured the preamp needed a twist on the tiny onboard output adjuster (until then the singal was way too weak and lacking most of attack).

I was worried that it would be as good as my Ibanez for a minute, but when you demoed the pickups individually I knew I was in the clear.
Still though, good value for money, you could buy about 4 of them for the price of one Ibanez

Great review! Just wanted to know, how heavy is it?

Mr. Dibble, this bass is both w active and passive pickup right? when the battery dies even the passive mechanic will be unavaible?

Soapbar pickups are underrated. Even these cheap Chinese electronics have some variety and bite to them. With the amp sim it sounds pretty damn good.

Love it. Just change pu and tuners and is a killer bass. But shipping for my island is 160 bucks. Defeat the cheap purpose.

Would you choose that in 6-string or LTD B-206? I have severe GAS for the LTD but it's a touch more expensive (still found some on discount)
