very cool
so the IR is going through the silicone cover out the top? does it get across a room ok or does it have to be pretty close to the device?
silicone having 'Low thermal conductivity' and being used on heat resistant tools alot (baking trays etc), i assumed it might block IR

I have something similar working between my Puck.js and my IR light. Works a treat. However I note the range of the tiny IR LED is not great. I need to be less than about 30cm from the bulb. I have a similar remote control to yours which works fine from a distance.
I presume the LED just doesn't get that much power :-/
