I would argue that for a complete beginner Tableau might actually be easier when it comes to quick analysis. The interface is simpler with the different shelves guiding you. Further, the ability to use calculations on the shelves (virtually as dimensions) is pretty natural.

I massively prefer Tableau, but currently looking for jobs and Power BI is far more sought after from what I can see.

I'd also argue that PBI is free as it is not free. For testing the application, both platforms offer free plans.
If you want to have published reports that refresh automatically, you gotta pay regardless.

Man. I wish I could still see the downvotes on videos, because I've seen comments disagreeing either for Tableau or PowerBI, but I really think this is the only good video I've seen comparing these two tools. All the others I've been recommended have been very marketing-heavy, and mostly insincere.

Obviously it's hard to stay the most up-to-date with every little wrinkle; both services are implementing AI "features", for example. But this is genuinely really good, despite any comments here. Thank you for making this.

I think you are under selling the visualisation part of Power BI a bit in your video. There are a lot of customisations you can make.

Also the last part is not entirely true. Do a deeper dive perhaps?

You have very poor knowledge of Power BI. Today, it is far better than Tableau in all the aspects you discussed. More importantly, it is growing unbelievably every day. Very soon, it will capture the whole market of MS Office users.
