I was on HRT for 30yrs (from 50 to 80). I did not stop this treatment voluntarily but because the country I retired to ceased from importing estrogen due to high cost for consumers.Based on my experience meno. should become medicalized
The entire time I was on HRT I felt great
had no adverse reaction and from physical point of view looked far better and had far more energy than I now have. When I first directed my Ob/Gyn that I wanted to start this treatment (before I even began meno.)he was reluctant to prescribe meds.I told him to give me a liability waiver to sign. He did so and as I said I was on the HRT for 30yrs. He told me at the time I would be on meds.for rest of my life. Unfortunately, as stated until approx 2 yrs ago this was not possible. It is high time doctors stopped dictating to their patients and listened more. The medical research proves nothing as there is no such thing as "one size fits all"

Its not about medicalising or reversing it, its about treating the symptoms of hormone deficiency. Something that is very simple and cheap to treat for those who suffer badly.
Exactly the same for men however there is even more prejudice for men...!!!

NICE guidance states that HRT is the first line treatment, once lifestyle issues have been addressed.

A lot of problems are caused for women who have 'Estrogen Dominance' already, which is little understood or spoken of, HRT makes the problem worse !.. as estrogen declines, it can still be dominant in regards to the ratios of other hormones such as testosterone which are declining at the same time, exacerbating estrogen dominance, be very aware of adding more estrogen to the mix !!... this also applies to men !!
Please adjust diet, limit Omega 6, supplement with B6 etc, keep goods levels of cholesterol, avoid unnecessary statins your chol. is probably fine despite what the doctor says, so dont go and damage it, eggs are your friend, get sunshine for > D3 !!

Women need to be very aware of what is in their moisturisers etc, as a lot of cosmetic products contain endocrine disruptors, .. a hidden enemy for all ages that gets smothered on.

Never used medications. It wasn't a cake walk but I looked at It as just another part of life. Did use a fan at work and wore lighter clothing even in the winter. Up to a woman and her doctor to make decisions on how to handle her change of life be it medication, change if diet ect. This is not a disease and IMO shouldn't be considered as such.

Increased EMF in the environments is also disrupting to the endocrine system.
Blue light pollution is reducing melatonin which is causing immense problems for everyone, a global disaster.

I went on her website. She's not a medical Dr and promotes various supplements around £30 each. So there's not much difference to a woman being prescribed plant based HRT patches by their GP, except its cheaper and you get a check up there.

LMF. Why don't you just ban the menopause or change genders to a penguin.

No it should not. It can easily be managed by modifying one’s diet, plenty of literature available. It is a natural part of growing old and if it is medicalised women will be encouraged to get addicted to drugs.

The NHS cannnot cope with health matters as they stand now. Adding more could only lead to further problems. Bring back the British Egg Board? :)
