Using the HeadRush MX 5 with the Hotone Ampero MIDI Controller is a great and powerful solution that HeadRush users have been looking for to expand the capabilities of their HeadRush setup. Doing this will offer you endless possibilities as you can setup the Ampero Control to work the HR Looper, turn on/off Signal Blocks within a HR Rig, assign a tap tempo, and more. All you need is the Ampero Control, a MIDI Cable, and the Ampero Control App which you can download from the App Store for iOS and Android. Enjoy the video.

Hi just wanted to thank you pedal guy, for quite a while now I’ve had a head rush gigboard and I wished it had more foot switches, anyway having seen your vid I thought I’d give the Ampero midi controller a try, and I’m pleased to say it was a fantastic purchase. It works well was easy to program and now I can get the most out of my gigboard. Cheers pedal guy 👍🎸all the best.

Just to update my earlier comment, I’m now using a meloaudio midi switch with a headrush gigboard, the meloaudio has 8 foot switches so inables me to control 8 blocks at once in stead of banking up & down. Also this frees up the 4 foot switches on the gigboard to go directly to 4 different pedalboards at any one time. It’s really great.
Incidentally I moved back to the gigboard due to the larger screen. As I always need glasses with the mx5. Thanks for you help this setup has been a great success. Cheers 🥂

Thanks for posting. My mx5 should be in Thursday. Can’t wait. I was chatting with Headrush and they said you can go USB out to an iPhone (that’s with using the USB to Lightning adapter) so you can record videos and the mx5 audio will record. Could you cover that in a video?

I just found your channel. Very informative channel. Banging my head against the wall trying to my Blackstar Live Logic to control my Headrush core.

Just getting started with this. is it possible to change between scenes and setlists ? That seems most useful to me to pick a setlist then change to scene mode for song then back to setlist

Great video. I can see this working great with the Gigboard as well. I may pick one of these up.

Hi good video, is there a way with midi to control with one switch of the midi controller the action of changin a bank, that in the mx5 you should need to click 2 switches at the same time?

Thanks for the excellent video! Two questions. Can you program the 4 buttons to access any 4 separate rigs in the MX5? Also, can you set the buttons to switch or scroll through rigs while in looper mode? Thanks!

Thanks for the tutorial!
Im wondering if you could setup in a way that if you push 1 button you can turn on and off not only one, but several blocks simultaneously? Also can you switch between 2 amps? The way I'd need it in my rig is to have 2 amps (A-B), where 'A' would be a dirty/heavy tone amp to which I could add extra drive/delay/rev etc. to have a lead sound, and 'B' would be a clean sounding amp, if that makes sense...

Hi, Have you tried the M-Vave Chocolate MIDI Controller? It's about 1/3 of the cost and can be an amazing alternative. I'm still in testing and will have a link sometime soon.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial! I have question, is it possible to assign to a single footswitch the Bank up and the other to a Bank down?

that is awesome! is it possible to program the pedal as a 4th footswitch? And is possible to use only 1 button for the looping doing recording, stop, delete? thank you

Hi, great video! Thank you for that. Can I set up banks in the MIDI controller for each Rig in the MX5? For example, sync the 4 footswitches per for each rig. When I move from one rig to another, the banks on the Midi also changes?

Just a heads up you could also just set cc toggles off and on to 127 without momentary mode and it will accomplish the same thing. At least on mine it does.

Wait what's A group vs B group doing? Is that bank (like you do at 6:08) or what happens on Release? (Since you set same CC to 0)?

The MIDI cable recommended at around 1:13 is a strange choice, because the MX5 has 1/8 inch TRS MIDI cable sockets, not standard 5 pin. I believe Boss makes an appropriate TRS to 5 pin MIDI cable.

Great video! For some reason the MIDI function shuts off on mine when I switch patches? Is there a way to permanently keep the function on until I hit the MIDI switch again?

Hello. Great videos.
I have hooked my midi pedal up to the three footswitches but they don’t do the stomp function.
They always act as if the pedal is being held down.
Can this be changed? Is there a way for my midi pedal to activate the stomp function of the Headrush?

I have trouble with the HeadRush footswitches when playing live.
