I mean but really. This dude at my rehab ran away without shoes. I worked at the local Walmart, at least 20 miles from where he was, I did a double take when I saw him in line, shoeless, trying to buy shoes. He had $20, I asked him how he got it, apparently someone felt bad for him. But he had walked at least 20 miles in patchy snow (spring, it had snowed like a week before, so most of it was gone, but the ground was still definitely frozen)

John doesn’t mind because he’s got a wife & baby now, being sober is the most important thing for him to live his happiest best life. That means being honest and talking about your struggles, I hope he remembers that when things are hard, it’s easy to joke about something that’s behind him. The hard part is talking and asking for help when he really needs it ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I remember thinking this could be someone’s “bottom” story. That is, being told no to offering your shoes for crack, in a crack house, because she just wasn’t gonna let me do that.

I knew it wasn’t mine and it bothered me, at the time.
