Experimental Damascus Sashimi Knives

Go Yoshizawa is a Damascus wizard. Everybody knows that. He dreams about new methods and techniques to make Damascus steel even when he is awake.

These two blades are something I've never heard of and seen before. And most probably you didn't either. Meaning, you've seen it hear first!

Two 240mm Yanagiba's with a core of Blue#2 and cladded with Blue#2/White#2 steel. So these are not really coreless steel blades, although there is no iron used for these knives. These are San Mai constructed blades using with a Blue#2 core and cladded with a Blue#2/White#2 coreless steel. So the cladding is from a steel what they normally make a coreless blade with. I think.

Anyway. It sure is an interesting experiment and the results are stunningly beautiful. I want to thank Rene Djurecik from Meesterslijpers / Knives World for lending me these amazing blades, before they end up in the vault of a knife collecting mogul's secret lair.

Wow! Thanks for sharing! Both are amazing but that etched one is out of this world.

I love the channel! I’m curious on retail price point for these knives.

Yo that second one... wtf!? a Nigara is on my short list. I also want a Majime knife. Have you seen that stuff on ig? The food release I've never seen better.

The moment, when you take a look at the knife via screen and already cut yourself...

They’re obviously lovely; is it impossible to Japanese natural whetstone sharpen (polish?) without leaving scratch marks?

The black dama looks like a river jump. The only logical reason for the two clad carbon steels is for design (appearance/art). But Go Yoshizawa maybe the secret maker of Batman’s gadgets? 😂
